This luxurious property in Sorrento attributes a terrace with views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The Imperial Hotel Tramontano consists of a private park with outdoor swimming pool, and free parking.
Rooms have an old-world charm, with elegant parquet floors or decorated tiles. Every single one comes with air conditioning, Wi-Fi access, and flat-screen satellite Tv. Some rooms offer you views of the grounds or the sea.
The restaurant serves standard Neapolitan cuisine in a sea-view dining space. Meals are prepared with the finest, seasonal ingredients. Drinks and light meals are accessible all through the day at the poolside bar.
Originally a private residence the Imperial Tramontano became a hotel in 1812. The well-known song Torna a Surriento was composed on the terrace.
The grounds include a 16th-century chapel, and the grounds are filled with palm trees and Mediterranean plants. An elevator goes directly to the private, sandy beach.

It was just as it always was fantastic!!!
Positive:
This was by far the best, of 11, hotels that we stayed in on our 21 day trip through France and Italy. Luxurious rooms, friendly and helpful staff (all seemed to have a very good grasp of the English language) and the views, over the bay of Naples, are absolutely spectacular.
Negative:
As this was also the most expensive hotel (by a considerable amount), that we stayed in, I feel justified in offering these minor observations : It was the only hotel where we were expected to pay for WiFi access The waiting staff, at breakfast, are over diligent in clearing away your dishes – sometimes even before you’ve finished On at least three occasions (during a 4 night stay) the staff totally ignored the Do Not Disturb sign by knocking and walking straight into the room before being acknowledged (is this an Italian thing ?)
Positive:
All the staff are extremely nice and comfortable to talk to. This place is very nice, very great location. They even left marmalade for us one night, champagne another night!
Positive:
Location was amazing, staff was pleasant, and the breakfast was delicious
Positive:
They up grade our room to a suite overloking the sea. The most romantice place we stayed. Loved the amenities of the entire place. Wonderful location
Positive:
The view is spectacular. The room was very luxurious, spacious, and well appointed. Restaurant and bar with beautiful views and good service. Very convenient to city center and marina.
Negative:
A minor point, but it would be nice if the pool had a view of the water.
Positive:
We had a lovely big sea facing room (322) with bedroom on a mezzanine floor above the lounge area – we note that rooms vary in size and quality (avoid 4th floor like the plague) but we were truly blessed. The views over the bay, Vesuvius and marina from our 2 floor-to-ceiling windows are truly fantastic, the best I think we have had anywhere, although the Juliette balcony is small. The gardens and pool area are also exotic and beautiful. One of the best things is the location of the hotel, which is away from the noisy town in a quiet, secluded, up-market area, but still only 5 minutes walk from the town itself. If you can’t be guaranteed a good sized 2nd or 3rd floor sea facing room (I think we were upgraded) think again about going. With views like this no point having a room overlooking the garden.
Negative:
The service was good – distant but gentle and impeccably well-mannered – but we felt one or two of the senior staff had favorites they took a shine to and gave the best tables to at breakfast. If you are an independent traveller, you may not like the Thomson package tour feel to the hotel, especially around the restaurant and pool areas. The English seem to like nothing more than striking up a friendship with as many of the staff and guests around them as possible. Nothing wrong with that if you like home from home but we go abroad for the foreign-ness & the struggle with the language etc!
Positive:
Fantastic location right next to the water, excellent staff could not have been more helpful, amazing views
Positive:
The room is very big, and the viw was great
Negative:
The staff who make the room was very bad, my towel was smelling very bad, like somoken
Positive:
Absolutely stunning hotel. Staff so friendly. Maid service exceptional. Views spectacular. Just AMAZING! A real treat.
Negative:
The hotel is expensive. You get what you pay for as it is such a great place but still on the pricey side in my opinion. However if you can afford it then GO!

Location
Negative:
Not able to bring you own water to drink at the pool – and paying 4 for a bottle then…. Also our room was noisy wasntvery happy with the room
Positive:
This was exactly the resort that we were looking for. My husband and I had 5 kids with us…ages 10-18 and the rooms were spacious and had an amazing view. Breakfast was included which is extremely rare in Europe. Most places charge 30 Euros per person. The lift to the beach is convenient and well run. The location of the resort itself could not been any better. The beach out one way, and the lovely village of Sorrento right outside the driveway. Everything was within very close proximity to the hotel
